Ingredients

  • 16 slices sandwich bread Thick-cut white or whole wheat recommended
  • 1 cup unsalted butter Softened to room temperature
  • 8 cloves fresh garlic Finely minced
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley Finely chopped
  • 0.25 tsp salt
  • 0.125 tsp black pepper
  • 0.25 cup grated Parmesan cheese Optional, sprinkle on during last 3 minutes of baking

Equipment

  • Baking sheet
  • Oven
  • Mixing bowl

Method

  1. Let butter soften fully at room temperature. In a bowl, combine softened butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, and black pepper. Mix until smooth, creamy, and evenly blended.
  2. Lay all bread slices flat on a baking sheet in a single layer without overlapping. Spread garlic butter generously on each slice, going all the way to the edges.
  3. Bake at 375 degrees F for 10 to 12 minutes until edges are lightly golden and butter is bubbling. For extra crispiness, broil for 2 minutes at the end and watch closely to avoid burning.
  4. If using Parmesan, sprinkle it on top during the last 3 minutes of baking. Remove from oven and serve immediately for best texture.

Notes

Garlic butter can be made up to 5 days ahead and stored in the refrigerator. For an air fryer version, cook at 350 degrees F for 3 to 5 minutes. Best served fresh for maximum crispiness.
